Kirk Street

about the project

Retrofit management and coordination

This was a retrofit scheme for 42 flats in 3 blocks. The client, Torus 62 Ltd, commissioned us to provide full retrofit services, including

acting as retrofit coordinator throughout the project’s lifespan.

After consulting with the client, our goal was EPC grade C ratings for all the properties, but we would also consider going for grade B where possible.

For a typical unit in the scheme, the current EPC rating was D58 (below the C rating it would need to be suitable for renting) and produced around 3.1 tonnes of CO2.

On completion, an individual Kirk Street flat had an EPC rating of B84 and produced 1 tonne of CO2.

Limited roof space meant that not all properties could have photovoltaic solar panels, but we made sure they covered about a third of the scheme’s electricity requirement.

"Kirk Street represents a significant investment for Torus, and we are proud to see it recognised by DESNZ as a leading example of retrofit in Liverpool."
